I have been customising my build for days on end yet I still can't decide what graphics card I should get. I am planning to spend around $750 on them and I still can't decide. I did find an hd 7990 in my price range but apparently it's getting old and there may be incompatibilities. Could someone either verify/falsify this and/or suggest a different card. Thanks in advance!!!

7990 getting old? It has 2 7970 GPUs in it, and a single 7970 is equivalent to an r9-280x. The 7990 will be fine for years.

I would definitely suggest a 7990 or a R9-290X; there shouldn't be any incompatibilities.

If i were you I'd wait for proper performance testing of the 290X and then decide between that and a GTX 780. Spend the remaining money on something else.

GTX 780 is a waste of money when the 290x is just around the corner, even if for what ever reason it is slower, it would still be better cost/performance wise compared to a GTX 780.

If it was slower it would actually be a worse value since it's gonna cost pretty much the same. But AMD stands in a better light right now, that's true.

who cares...

I would get the R9 290X as your gpu. What are your full specs?

The 7970 was slower then the GTX 770, but the 7970 has more VRAM and OC better, this is the logic I used when i said that about the GTX 780 and 290x

I would switch the SSD with a Samsung 840 Evo 128gb because it is cheaper: http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/part/samsung-internal-hard-drive-mz7te120bw

If you are only running a single card configuration, a good quality psu like a SeaSonic SSR-650RM would be enough for this build:http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/part/seasonic-power-supply-ssr650rm

The reason for the high wattage atm is just in case i want to buy a graphics card now then add another one in sli/crossfire.

Also that psu is only semi modular :/

Semi modular is fine. The only cable that comes attached is the 24 pin.
