I am wondering which GPU to buy I don't mind waiting I am hoping to average 60 fps on an average amount of games, without future proofing. The 970 seamed to be good for me but now the 1060 is much better value for money, the 1070 beats the 980 ti, the 1060 beats the 980, will the 1050 beat the 970, and if anyone knows any rumoured stats can you please help me out any advice would be much appreciated

GTX 1060 and 980 are about the same right now.

But after few drivers updates etc., it will get better.

No idea about GTX 1050. If we will even see one.

I'm only interested in performance, I'm probably gonna make my rig look better with case fans down the line and higher watt PSU's aren't that expensive (I don't pay for electricity)

Isn't frametime linked with CPU?

So if I have bad CPU, frametimes will be higher.

Or am I wrong?

CPU's do effect FPS but not that much , and i5 6600k should give you the max FPS you can get out of a CPU unless you have a very high range GPU.

well, you still need to consider more than just fps.

a higher watt PSU is good, but you also need to look for efficient PSUs from reputable brands and models. there's a pretty good guide on this forum for a start

Thanks for info :)

I was sure that frametime is affected only by CPU.

some games won't do well with an i5. luckily there's only a few, and is only a big deal if you have a powerful gpu as you said or rendering +60 fps.
