Hi all. So I was going to RMA my 390x, because I thought it was causing instability. Turned out my CPU cooler wasn't seated properly, overheating it, and bluescreening the PC. So yeah, I ended up selling the 390x and now I have an open RMA ticket for a card I don't own. I wouldn't care if they didn't decide to file a class action lawsuit against my brother (he bought the card for me) for a "false" RMA ticket. I just want to cancel the damn thing and be over with it. Is there any way I can do this? Halp pls.

CPU: INTEL Core i7 4790k @ 4.7Ghz - Cooling: NZXT Kraken X61 - Mobo: Gigabyte Z97X SLI - RAM: 16GB G.Skill Ares 2400mhz - GPU: AMD Sapphire Nitro R9 Fury 4G - Case: Phanteks P350X - PSU: EVGA 750GQ - Storage: WD Black 1TB - Fans: 2x Noctua NF-P14s (Push) / 2x Corsair AF140 (Pull) / 3x Corsair AF120 (Exhaust) - Keyboard: Corsair K70 Cherry MX Red - Mouse: Razer Deathadder Chroma

Bit of an AMD fan I suppose. I don't bias my replies to anything however, I just prefer AMD and their products. Buy whatever the H*CK you want.

Can't you just email them and say that you are no longer in need of the RMA since the problem was caused by something besides your 390x? I can't imagine that they would want to sue you for not using your RMA since I can only imagine that RMA's cost a fair deal of money to process since they have to send you a new card for free and take time trying to fix the card so they can possibly resell it as a refurb unit or whatever, which they would then also take a hit on there as well.

Newegg for example doesn't issue a refund until the item reaches them so if the ticket remains open long enough it should just expire. I don't see where any lawsuit comes in. You're the customer buying a product, saying it has issues. Telling the distributor then just failing to actually return the product, they won't pursue you over it. You may get an email saying your request for RMA has been cancelled eventually but that should be it.
