AMD retainer bracket

Go to solution Solved by -rascal-,

All the stock mounting for AMD CPUs haven't changed since AM2...so it should work.

Looking at the stock mounting on my Gigabyte FM1 board, and comparing it to the stock mounting from my AM3+ ASUS RoG Mobo, they look almost 100% identical.

Well, what CPU cooler are you trying to install?

Wait, do you just need the mount/clamps, or you need the backplate as well?

Because...

Are all the AMD retainer brackets the same?

Would the above work for an AMD FM1 socket cooler?

I threw away my stock cooler and my new cooler doesn't come with the clamps but uses the original stock clamps.

I believe all their recent sockets use the same mounting holes.

Also, here's a photo of the FM1 socket with the mounting holes

I'm trying to install the coolermaster vortex plus.  I bought it on sale for a HTPC build because my 212 is a bit too tall for the GD07 case I have.  Coolermaster didn't do the best job advertising that you need to have the stock cpu cooler brackets.  I figured it was everything you need to mount intel/amd sockets listed on the box since it didn't specifically mention this caveat.
