Get whichever is cheaper/looks nicer out of the Strix or the Deluxe II.

X99 deluxe II has more temp sensors than strix, does that matter?

Between SupremeFX and CrystalSound it's much of a muchness AFAIK.

You are reading a little too far into the marketing stuff.

 

The Asus x99 Deluxe, x99 Deluxe/U3.1, and x99 Deluxe II are the same board with slightly different features.  Performance wise they are identical.  

 

They all also have the same maximum RAM capacity.  The early boards were initially limited to 64GB through the BIOS, but within months of release. 128GB support was added via a BIOS update.

 

The Deluxe II did add an additional 4 pin EPS to the already supplied 8 pin for the CPU, but it has zero effect on overclocking.  I've run a 6950x and a 5960x to maximum achievable overclocks without issue with a single 8 pin. 

 

All of the sensor capabilities are the same.  The new Deluxe II just happens to include 3 external temp sensors with purchase.  With the original boards, the external temps sensor headers are provided, but you need to order your actual sensor for a few bucks each.

 

When it comes to the basics of performance, overclocking or capabilities, they are essentially exactly the same.  It's just a matter of determining if you need things like LEDs and additional U.2 ssd support.

 

I have an x99 Deluxe/U3.1 for quite a while, but if I was buying now I'd get a x99 Deluxe II or a Rampage V E10.

That was your takeaway from everything I just typed?  Too funny.  I was addressing the original topic of the thread, but I'll look at the Strix as I'm not sure what sensor headers are provided.

I'm just humored because you're kind of all over the place in this thread.  No biggie, we all get there.

 

Anyways, the Strix does supply 1 external temp sensor compared to the 4 of the x99 Deluxe/U.3.1 and x99 Deluxe II.   The Deluxe boards are able to provide more fan and temp sensor headers due to the fact that Asus includes and external fan/temp sensor board that you mount separately in your case.

 

Here's the layout of the Strix.  Temp sensor is #18.

The Asus X99 ROG strix is a realy sollid and good motherboard.

In my opinnion one of the best boards at its price point.
