Time controlled port forward???

So here is the situation.  I work a standard 7:30 - 4:30 job.  Due to work network policies I have to leverage a very insecure RDP port configuration if I wish to access my home pc from work.  What I would like to do and I haven't found any useful documentation is have a time controlled port forward.  Example if time is before or after my work hours the port forward denies the traffic.  During the hours in question it permits the traffic.  I am using a Asus RT-AC87R so my guess is that out the door it's not doable.  If someone can give me an idea of a way that I can accomplish this it'd be appreciated greatly.

 

Lastly, I would like to add that yes I am able to block it on the OS side but I'd rather have the port be time controlled.

I know on MacOS there is a program called Port Map that allows you to temporarily open the port while the program is open. You didn't have to go into the router or do anything. Now this may only be a UNIX thing but there might be a windows version. You can just set it to open and close at the time you want

I am not sure if your router has this functionality, but I have the same situation with my office/home.

 

I am running pfSense so I guess I get more advanced configuration, but I have only allowed traffic from my work IP address to my house on a certain port. Not sure if you can do that on your router.

Yeah not so much lol but I have been debating replacing it with a pfsense box heard a lot of very positive things.

I'm aware of the risks but the level of competency of the majority of the staff here is deplorable.  I used to do managed services IT work and can do circles around most the people here.

Oh yeah, it is great. So much functionality. I really recommend it and the system requirement to run it are incredibly low. As in lower than a Core 2 Duo and around 1GB of RAM (for a home network with ~5 users).

 

You can also create VPN's and put it on port 443 to disguise it has HTTPS traffic so no need for RDPing because they don't see it as VPN traffic ;)

I actually am using 443 for the RDP :P which is why i say it's incredibly insecure.  From what I can tell they block typical vpn usage (was actually the first thing I tried).  The direct rdp to 443 with a port forward rewrite rule still appears to be https traffic the only exception being any UDP traffic they may see (which i suspect they block the UDP aspects already)

Ahhh yeah, it would make sense for them to do that.

 

Like I said, you can mask the VPN traffic as TCP on port 443 to look like HTTPS. 

 

So it depends if you want RDP or VPN.
