Core i5-5600k/Core i3-4150 same socket?

SO! I'm finally upgrading my bottleneck of a CPU Core i3-4150 and was thinking of getting a Core i5-5600k instead.

Thing is I'm not sure if the socket is the same and therefor, if I need to change my MOBO aswell?

Thanks for the help yall

what's an i5 5600k? i don't see them anywhere. if you're referring to the 6600k, no its a different socket. go with an i5 4460 instead.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X Heatsink: Gelid Phantom Black GPU: Palit RTX 3060 Ti Dual RAM: Corsair DDR4 2x8GB 3000Mhz mobo: Asus X570-P case: Fractal Design Define C PSU: Superflower Leadex Gold 650W

I think that you want to get either the i5-6500 or the i5-6600k. Both are not compatible with your motherboard. If i were you, I would get the Xeon 1231 V3 or an i7 4770/4790

There is no i5-5600K

I'm sure you mean the i5-6500 or i5-6600K

Your i3-4150 is on a socket LGA1150 mobo

The Skylake you want to upgrade to, requires a socket LGA1151 mobo

So you will need a new mobo

^^^

Just to add, you would also need new RAM. LGA1150 uses DDR3, LGA1151 uses DDR4.

My modded Air 540 build

get an i5 4460 or an i7/e3 1231 v3 instead, 6600k wont fit in your mobo.

Also in case anyone are curious, I just got a new camera that can shoot high FPS which I need for the type of videos I make. My teeny tiny dual core I3 just doesnt cut it anymore.

Guess I had to upgrade at some point but just cannot afford it right now if I need Mobo, CPU AND 16gb of ram.

thanks for the help anyways guys

I don't JUST do video editing but also gaming on this machine.

If it's suitable for either I might pick it up, thanks for the advice!

Yes it is, the Xeon / i7 that they suggested is an i5 with HyperThreading so it'll give you more performance in both.
