HyperX Cloud Revolver Gaming Headset  - https://www.amazon.com/HyperX-Revolver-Headset-HX-HSCR-BK-NA/dp/B01CIEBU54/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1469966580&sr=1-1&keywords=hyperx+cloud+revolver

Both seem to be good, but which one would be better? I am undecided...

I previously bought the Steelseries Siberia 350 and the sound quality on these headset was total junk...

Mic quality and sound quality is very important, and noise cancellation.

How about the HyperX Cloud 2, they are around the same price as the HyperX Cloud Revolver and the mic is pretty good and also sound, has 7.1 that is virtual (done by software) so it adds to the experience.

I was looking at the cloud 2, but I heard bad reviews about the mic quality, some of the reviewers mentioned the revolver has better mic quality over the cloud 2.

How is the HyperX software?

From some of the online reviews it appears the Sound Blaster software is still junk.

The DAC sound card has a button to push for 7.1, which does the 7.1 surround. So the card does all the 7.1, its not like a software that you download and can control at least that is what I know for me. Check on YouTube for video reviews on the Cloud 2, some videos have a mic test.

One of my friends that bought the HyperX Cloud 2 said the exact same thing, the usb dongle thing went bad in less than 6 months. Thats a bit concerning.

SoundBlaster on the other hand is known to make solid quality products, just their software side is junk. Its been 6 years since I've used a soundblaster product.

I believe u can use Razer's software for 7.1, apparently its the best free one out there.

I see, I might be interested in that then. The Steelseries software is a nightmare because half of the times it's buggy and confusing.

i just want a good gaming headset with a decent quality mic and of course that they are lightweight and comfortable on my ears.

The Steelseries fit the bill of comfortable but totally trash when it came down to sound quality.

Thats pretty depressing, I take pretty good care of my things, especially being delicate with my electronics, unlike my sister....which is older than me lmao.

But the good  thing is that they were able to send her a replacement without any hassle, well that to me really means a lot, good customer service.

Well just in general, not a headset, like a phone or laptop. But I did have to RMA my headset early July as the headband was screwed up, they did a warranty replacement, new in box and just got it a couple days ago, really happy with Kingston Customer Service.

Overall I think the Hyper X Cloud series is good as a gaming headset. However I do agree that its mic (at least for the Hyper X Cloud, Cloud II and Core) leaves a lot to be desired. I've heard of several mic tests in video reviews and they sound...flat, if not actually awful. Sound quality for its speakers are great, but the headsets aren't exactly known for their mic quality.

If you truly want to up your audio game, stop buying "gaming" headsets from companies that don't actually know a thing about audio. Buy from proper audio companies like Sennheiser or Audio-Technica, who sell products based on quality, not the length of the feature list. Most often the recommendation is to buy a separate headphones and microphone so you get the best bang for the buck.
