Hi guys,

I am currently looking to update my computer to play new games but i am a novice on what to look for and what is recommended. I have enclosed what i am running currently. I am looking for advice on what I should upgrade etc. I have small budget less than £1000 for new components and software. Any help would be appreciated

1000 pounds could get u a new cpu, mobo, gpu and psu.

since it's for games, that'd be the focus on the upgrades i'm guessing :)

the only thing i understand what you wrote there was cpu - i am a complete beginner on this. any advice on what hardware i should buy!

-woop-

buy, CPU (the chip you put in the big pcb board)

and mobo (or mother board it's the big pcb board where you put everything in)

then don't forget GPU(s) (they're graphic cards, they're generally what most games would stress)

if you're worried about cost, amd's the way to go even 1000 pounds would pay for a new computer haha :)

Check out the build: Used to be Obot, now Lilith

Holy wall of text batman. Might want to post this in the New Builds and Planing sub-forum, as for your budget you should be able to get a respectable build with that money. The correct forum will help, they are ninjas when it comes to build planning.

I think some knowledge should be the first thing you get considering all you got from what zip2k4 said was CPU. All things considered your PC isn't all that bad, it's a damn sight better than the ones most people have when they come here asking for upgrade advice.

*in the hope of not making the wall of text collapse and destroys us crappy link instead of actual image*

that comment made me:

but on topic, yep, more knowledge would allow OP to prioritize his built :D

As a basic primer, a computer needs a case, a power supply (PSU), a Motherboard (MB), a central processing unit (CPU or APU if it has on board graphics), memory (Ram), storage (hard drives HDD, or solid state drives SSD), operating system (OS such as windows or mac os or linux) , it may also have a graphics card/video card (GPU) and an optical drive (blueray, dvd, cd etc) there are others but this is the basics.

Your current set up:

CPU: AMD Athlon II X4 631

MB: ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. F1A55-M LX

Ram: 4.00 GB DDR3 @ 665MHz

Storage: 313GB Western Digital and 488GB Seagate (assuming that shows either free or used space as you cant buy drives in that size)

GPU: AMD Radeon HD 6670 (made by Asus)

The parts need to be compatible with each other (mostly the motherboard and cpu but also the ram).

Hope this helps.
