Thank you so much. 1080P Gaming (a lot of gaming, Dark Souls 1,2&3, WoW, Rainbow Six: Siege, etc) and video editing (as I am on a Film and TV production course at college), also I live in England.

the i7 will be worth it only if it costs you less than about 250 pounds IMO, double the price and not double the performance. the rig I listed is cheaper than the amd (so a new GPU is easier to get sooner) amd closer to the performance of the i7 rig. gaming there will be almost no performance difference between this and the i7. Editing will still be smooth, but rendering will take a hit, still better than the AMD rig.

Right, so my birthday is coming up, and I would like to build a new PC. However I am torn between two hypothetical builds, both are nothing special and they're made with the intention of switching some bits and bobs from my current build over to them, as to save money on things that don't need upgrading. One is AMD, the other is Intel. I have a £500 budget, with that in mind, here are my builds:

AMD - £369.87

CPU - FX-8350 £133.72
Motherboard - ASUS 970 Pro Gaming Aura £94.04
PSU - Corsair CP-9020060 600W - £60
CPU Cooler - Noctua NH-U12S £53

Case - CiT Dragon 3 £28.95

Intel - £498.23

CPU - i7-4790K £298.89

Motherboard - MSI B85-G43 £86.15
PSU - Same as above

CPU Cooler - Cooler Master 212 Evo - £24.25

Case - Same as above

Parts already procured

RAM - HyperX Fury 1866MHz 16GB (2x8GB)

Primary Storage - Kingston 240 GB SSD

HDD - WD Blue 1TB

External Hard Drive - Seagate 2TB

GPU - MSI Twin Frozr R9 270 2GB (upgrading soon hopefully to either RX 480 or GTX 980)

If you guys could guide me to make the right decision I will be eternally grateful :)

--Edit---

With a massive help from RGProductions, I have decided to go with this build http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/3vHQqk plus the CiT Dragon case, which for some reason wasn't on PCPart Picker.

I will make you a build with that all in mind, what will you use it for? and what country are you in?
