spec 01 fan mounting issue

The screws screw into the fan and not the case.

That's weird. I've heard that the screws they come with are a bit more finicky than normal fan screws. If you have those lying around, you should try using them.

Any store that sells PC hardware also has mounting stuff.

Nah, I'm pretty used to it but I find that bold red lettering helps make it clear for those who missed it the first two times around.

Thats odd. I have the exact same fans with the spec-03 and I didnt have any issue installing them. Did you try the screws that came with the led fan of the case?
