Alright, well you know more than me I am sure, I never really read into this :P

these guys discussed it on the toms hardware forum...i don't know how legit they are but the last post from the user DonkeyOatie i think has the right answer...intel locked it through micro-code upgrade...like they did with skylake overclocking on H series board...

http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-2985749/core-4690k-overclocking-h81-motherboard.html

The general answer is NO. That motherboard is for overclocking ONLY the G3258.

The announcement above, back in 2014 when the chips were released, is like the recent announcement of overclocking of non-K Skylakes or on non-Z motherboard. In both cases, Intel made changes and put the acid to the motherboard manufacturers to prevent this. Changes were made to Intel microcode, adjustments aoccured to the OS AFAIK, and changes were made to the BIOS, all of which prevented this.

If you have the right old board, running the right old BIOS, and the right version of the OS, you can still do it, but you are then 'frozen in time' and will be unable to upgrade any of those parts without losing this capability.

In simple terms it is impossible (really VERY impractical)

The only supported overclocking is a small adjustment to BCLK which might get you 100Mhz on a good day, with a following wind.

FUNFACT: i used to be on tomshardware forum as well and i had an account with even more badges than this guy...but i got banned for some foolery :(
so i decided to play in the beer league with the teens here at LTT :P

My budget is higher than a normal person's, but, money doesn't grow on trees lads. is there any other motherboard that supports the CPU but ddr3 memory?

not really...some board support DDR3L memory which is the low voltage stuff...you have to understand that skylake's memory controller is weaker than haswell CPU's...so you risk damaging the 6700K CPU if you pair it with standard DDR3 RAM...i wouldn't risk it...especially since DDR4 RAM sticks are dirt cheap and they are faster as well..you can find 16GB of that stuff for 60$ or so...

here what i think you should order...this is very very good for the price...so long as your case support standard ATX size motherboards.. (does it) otherwise there are good Z170 boards in the microATX size as well...just let me know:

unless you pick up one of the rare Skylake (H170/Z170 etc) motherboards that support DDR3.

They are incredibly rare and often have dealbreaking features missing as they're more budget orientated.
