Hello all, I am a long time lurker and subscriber to the youtube channel. I feel like I have hit a wall when it comes to performance on this rig. I don't know where to go from here. Some have said go intel, some have said get a better gfx card. Just looking for the best performance upgrade. I mainly game on my rig, a few MMOS(ffxiv, and wow), RTS(civ v, stellaris), as well as some FPS(overwatch, BF4). I'm running on high/ultra depending on the game and getting 50-60fps with drops to the low 30s when a lot of action starts happening. My budget is $500-$600 usd. I thank you all in advance for the help I know you can provide. The specs for my current rig are:

Amd processors are trash for gaming, go with intels I3 6320 it costs the same as the 8350 and performs a little better in every game except battlefield (And a select few others like it)

As for the graphics card, go with the gtx 1060, its just better. and maybe tone it down a bit on the power supply, after making those two changes you can go cheaper on the psu.

I am presuming you are on 1080p. Then 390x should be enough for now. I would suggest upgrade the cpu+mobo first. get a i5 6500 and b150/h170 and you should see a boost in performance. 8350 is not comparable in single core with intel and lots of games dont really benefit from more cores. Plus, its not a good time buying a new GPU. all the new cards released recently is overpriced becuz of high demand.

@ArmswieldTheHero Why would I need to tone it down on the PSU? As in lower the GPU clocks? As the parts listed above are what I have now. Is 850 not enough for the more modern hardware? Sorry for the Ignorance.

@Devin92 Yes I am on 1080p at the moment. Wanting to get into 4k. Just going for the hardware on the rig first. 4k monitor will come later. ;p

I just have no idea what to snag off amazon/newegg to get the best price to performance for intel. I was looking at the following on amazon. No Idea if its going to blow my current rig out of the water, based on comparisons to my current hardware. If you guys have any suggestions for something better in my range let me know.

Ur choice of part is fine. Theres pcpartpicker.com that have a more or less exclusive collection of pc hardware and online sellers. you can compare price on it and find the best deal. for 4k gaming tho, high/ultra 60fps @4k is a hard thing to get even with gtx1080, and tat card itself will blow ur budget away. I would say 1440p is the sweet spot right now.
