If the game's in fullscreen, then that's probably why. Try changing the game to windowed fullscreen (some games might call it differently, like borderless window) if it has that option.

This is common when you have a game in FULLSCREEN mode. When you tab between them you exit the game, to be able to swap between them without experiencing "blackscreen" for about 5 seconds set your game to "Windowed Borderless". I play on Three screens, I know the feel.

I use actual multimonitors or display fusion to ignore focus on a fullscreen game and allows me to freely move rhe mouse when alt tabbing. Works wonders for games that dont support borderless fullscreen

Window bordeeless all the time, no problems on win 10. Some games I even play on windowed mode 1600x900. 

 

2 monitors is the best setup :)
