1060 or RX480? Need a new card.

kappakali

Hi there! I currently run a EVGA GT 740, I need to upgrade and now that things are getting cheaper, I can afford to do so. I can't necessarily decide whether to go for an RX480 or a GTX 1060.

They are actually the same price point as well, making my dilemma more of a dilemma (the RX480 is just a tad cheaper, but I am 100% willing to pay more for a better card). Help please!!!

if the 480 is reference, then 1060. If it's an aftermarket 480 - get that

Aftermarket 1060? (considering they are already out.)

exactly. If you are comparing reference 480 vs any 1060 - 1060 is better. aftermarket 480, however, is a better buy

Both are very good and very comparable, I would choose the one that you like the looks of or is cheaper.

Personally a 1060 from evga because that support.

Depends on how long you plan on using the cards. If you want to get a few years out of em I suggest the RX 480 since AMD has always shown better longevity. I mean Kepler is already struggling really badly. Otherwise just get whichever card you can find at MSRP, they're incredibly similar cards for the time being.

I'm not really worrying about the longetivity, thanks though!
