Cloning from HDD to SSD

dreamhacking

1TB HDD with OS, 200GB used. Trying to clone to the SSD for just the OS.

When I chose Migrate OS from HDD to SSD (I am using the AOMEI Partition Assistant Software). It will clone the whole 200GB from HDD to the 240GB SSD, I was hoping it will be just cloning the OS.
Do I just need to delete everything else other than the OS in SSD to get some of the space back? lol

Drive cloning tools clone the whole drive, not just the OS.

I did this recently and the best way I have found to do it, is to move anything important to another drive, reinstall windows, then clone the windows drive.

It is just odd when it says Migrate OS from HDD to SSD

maybe it should have say "Migrate Everything from HDD to SSD" lol

I think it means Migrate OS drive. The SSD should fit all of the data on it, so I would just go for it, than maybe clean it up or move games after.

The process went smooth. but it only leaves me 40GB in the SSD now ... lol

i gotta delete pictures and videos that got copied over because I already have them in the 1TB HDD
