If I understand right, then the module connects to the extender card by sas cable?

So basically daisy chaining?

And the module can handle 2 extenders?

You can use this to plug more drives into one sas controller, its part of the standard. I think you can daisy chain sas expanders, so you can reach the max drives of sas which is 16000(of 2^8).

 

Also intel raid cards are just rebranded lsi cards.

I dont think I need that many. 40 is enough for HDDs in the case.

 

Also, if the Intel cards are rebranded LSI cards, why are the Intel once cheaper?

Its a old card. If you want a cheaper card look for a used h700 on ebay for about 60 dollars. 

 

What are you doing with all these drives.

I'm storing my video files, with some in raid.

Also, I only save up for once a year upgrade, so its nice to have space to add in cheaper 1-2TB drives if needed.
