So i installed my new r9 270x recently and I have noticed in a few games that it says 60 or 50 fps but the game doesn't feel smooth at all. It's like i am playing something around 25 fps. I tried with Metal Gear Solid 5 and Evolve. In both games changing the settings doesn't affect performance at all. I checked my gpu while i was playing MGS 5 and i saw that my gpu was bouncing around in activity. Is my gpu broken or something ?

What's your CPU ? Can you post your CPU usage during intensive games ? It feels like a CPU bottleneck

It's not the cpu. It has 80% usage at MAX.

80% is still quite high. Just to be sure, what's the model of the CPU ?

PSU is 500Watts Cooler Master RS-500-PCAP-i3 and the driver is up to date.

use DDU and re-install 16.7.3

If that doesn't work try a different PSU

I get a similar problem when ill be play eso then suddently fps goes really low from 40 to 10, gpu usage drops but temps are fine and only way to fix is a system restart. I cant expect much from my old hardware but its annoying.

Don't be so sure about that. In modern games that use quite a bit more CPU power, this processor is completely outdated and can bottleneck pretty much any recent GPU, even the low end...

Not that bad actually. 3.8GHZ Kaveri CPUs are okay. It's not an i5 but it's good enough for a 270X

It's not even an i3 or a decent FX processor. I can't see how this processor could handle modern games without major frame dips, even with a R9 270X. I've seen similar CPUs bottleneck GTX 570 and GTX 750Ti...

But I would also try to test a different PSU. Yours might be dying and struggling to deliver stable power.

I don't have frame dips. Are you even reading what i said ? i have stable 60 fps in every game. It just feels like 25 and my gpu usage is low.

Maybe you have a bad monitor or cables or maybe you eyes are amazing and see and much much faster fps than everyone else therefore 60fps looks laggy af

Salty much ? What resolution are you playing ? What settings on MGS5 ? If you don't play 720p low settings, I can't see how you can get 60fps with low GPU usage on a 270x...

You may be right! About the monitor part. My monitor is 11 years old and im having huge cable problems. Everytimei move my cable even a little wierd lines appear on the screen and the pc reboots. I am getting a new cable today.

Salty ? I'm playing on max settings 720p go check a video if you don't believe me. And again the fps is not the problem here.

That sounds like a PSU and Monitor problem.

It's the same core found in the 860K and 880K and the 880K is just a 4.4GHz Kaveri CPU yet it matches the i3 4160 in terms of multi-core performance. With a 3.8 Boost clock it's better than what you see in Petniums and people are using those all the time

MGSV is incredibly easy to run. My 860M can run 1080p medium settings with ease. A 270X should have a much easier time

You should've started with that ! It's normal that you have low GPU usage at that resolution. Your 270x isn't stressed to the point of reaching 100% usage. With what you told before, it seems that you might need a new monitor and PSU...
