Looking for a quality Fan Controller

How many watts per channel do you need? What brand of fans? Some fans will simply not work well on a controller, like my Corsair SP's.... make a horrible motor whine...

I have a BitFenix Hydro Pro - nice, sleek, simple... Works great with my BitFenix fans...

This raises an excellent point. Fan controllers can cause serious noise issues with certain fans. I bought some 135mm Scythe that were butter smooth, but loud at 1600 Rpm. I got an NZXT Sentry Mix to dial them down, and they made a horribly loud ticking when using the controller. I hooked them up to a Scythe controller and they were perfect down to 500rpm.

So if possible, use a fan controller that matches the make of your fans.

I would really like a high quality fan controller to control some high performance fans such as the aerocool shark 120mm fans (red leds) and an aerocool 140mm led fan, which is what I am planning on purchasing, unless someone can point me to some better performing (don't care about noise that much) led 120mm and 140mm fans. As long as I can trust the specs from the manufactures website, so far it seems that aerocool has the best 120mm fans that have 82.6 cfm air flow and spin at 1500 rpm. I did research other 140mm fans that much... and I am still undecided on a fan controller :(
When I get home from work I can do some research for you. Unfortunately you really can't trust manufacturer claims on performance at all since there is no standardised testing method. Even Noctua has been shown to have had numbers that were inaccurate.

This is all great info, I could probably use a 4-channel fan controller, so I was thinking of getting the Lamptron FC5V2 because it looks so awesome. One more question however, What fans should I get for my H100, they don't need to be led and they'll stay connected to the H100 fan controller, the color scheme shouldn't matter because they won't be seen through the mesh very well but black is preferred...

The Corsair SP120s look awesome but I don't want them to leak air around the rounded sides :(

Well I guess that could be another question' date=' what fans would be better the the new corsair fans on the market, I don't really want a Noctua fan, can't get over the color, unless it's easy to paint them and make them look all pretty [/quote']

painting fans is not easy let me tell you.... but as far as fans go, I have had great success with CM 120mm fans, there cheap, their LED, and there fricken tuff as nails... I now have a couple noctua fans in my system, though they are better fans, the CM fans still get my vote...

CM fans are crap and they're loud.

i5 3570K - MSI GD65 z77 - 660ti 2gb SLI - Kingston HyperX Blu 8gb (4x2gb) - Corsair H100i - Corsair 500r - Corsair HX 850w - Kingston HyperX 120gb SSD

^ Agreed. Gentle Typhoon 1850s are fan-freaking-tastic fans for use on a radiator, or just as a case fan.

I've been using the nzxt sentry mix, I love how powerful this thing is

I am able to turn 4 fans on from 1 channel but the thing is I am unable to control the RPM precisely

Still looking for a better one :(

Have you tried any other fan controllers? What fans do you run on your Mix? I have a mix but I'm thinking of getting a new controller, because I believe the Mix causing a very slight motor noise in ALL my fans. Girlfriend says she can't hear anything, but it drives me nuts. They run absolutely silent if just wired to 5v. :(

I feel stupid now for not asking you some basic questions earlier like: What case are these going in? Are they going to be mounted on radiators? Intake or exhaust? I have different recommendations depending upon your specific situation.

I've even went to look for Lamptron FC series when I was overseas since I couldnt get one in my country

But after looking at it, the FC series build quality is just disappointing, its like all Le Plastic

Im running GT AP-15 and Im happy that when i turn it 3/4 down the noise of the fans are just gone

though I hear abit of electric noise from the Fan controller... still cant live with it though

I'm a silent freak as well

It's a hard life being a silence fanatic.
