Um. I tried using a restore point from about a month back, for reasons, but I've run into some issues. It restarts the system, but then brings me to the desktop, saying that it has failed and it may be corrupted. I tried using one around the same time of that one, difference of two days to be exact, and the same result. How does a restore point corrupt itself... More importantly, how can I un-corrupt it? I tried running chkdsk /r with no luck. I tried disabling anti viruses with no luck either.

(Windows 10 home 64bit)

Nothing.

You can't uncorrupted it, because it is only bits that are different from the actual file that are stored. So, only Windows can understanding it.

It can get corrupted if you used a disk defragment utility that isn't the one built-in into Windows, as disk defragment tools sees these random bits and moves them all around trying to make sense out of it, but just fails, corrupting the data.

I haven't used any hdd/ssd utility in my entire life, including defragment utilities. Is that restore point, um, pointless now?

Nothing.
