Posted July 23, 2016 So I wanted to know if people actually use GitHub Issues for programs which are open source. What is GitHub Issues: GitHub Issues allows people to report any bugs, give suggestions or report any issues with your program which are not bugs. I want to know this since I have several open source projects with GitHub issues enabled and nobody is using them. Thanks . Judge a product on its own merits AND the company that made it. It has been proved to have bugs and so I don't know why it is not used. Judge a product on its own merits AND the company that made it. Posted July 24, 2016 A lot of people learning to program use GitHub as an easy way to share their code (and to also get experience with git). I doubt many people would bother using it when helping those people. Chances are they didn't randomly come across the project and already have another means of contacting the person if they are helping them (like forums, private messages, etc). Even on professional projects, there are probably people who prefer to report issues using other means (like trying to contact a maintainer directly, using a community forum, contacting support, etc) or who can't be bothered reporting anything at all even if they find an issue. There's not much you can do about those people if they are already aware of the issue tracking feature and make the decision not to use it. Finally, some people simply don't have a GitHub account, or do and don't really use it. If you find this to be a problem for you, you could always ask the people helping you why they aren't using it and if they wouldn't mind doing so in the future. Just be polite about it, they are being nice and helping you after all. If you happen to be paying them for help/testing/whatever, then it seems reasonable to make it a requirement but I don't expect this is the case.
