Mobo form factors

I was wondering is there any real preformence factors going from an atx to a matx to an mitx board. Cause I got a crazy idea cooking for a case but I don't want to gimp on preformence.

As far as I know, motherboard size really only effects how much stuff you can put on it (for example, smaller motherboards might have fewer PCI-E slots). Other than that, any sort of performance difference would be immeasurably small.
