I remember my first PC builds, the I/O plates were such a pain (cheapest aluminum ever back in the day).

 

You should really just have to punch this into the case from the inside (it will pop in with a little force) and simply slide your motherboard into it.

 

You'll know you did it right when the ports are in the right spots in the I/O shield and your motherboard mounting screws are aligned as well.

 

In some older builds I have done, I would end up completely bending back the "tabs" on the I/O plate that were completely in the way of the ports, or even completely removing them. I haven't had this problem in years though, so I am surprised to see you encounter this today.

Yeah, I ended up bending them but it didn't help

May not be the best advice, but I've taken plyers and legit just twisted those tabs off, or at least bent them out of the way enough so I could push the motherboard in.

 

Are you sure the mounting screws for the motherboard are in correctly?

 

 

It should be lining up fine, just having an issue pushing the motherboard in.

A picture of the inside of your case with the I/O plate and your onboard I/O ports would help as well.

The plate isn't in right, Make sure it's completely pushed into the I/O slot on the back of the case.

 

I can see in the picture only like one part is pushed in and a little too low as your audio ports aren't in the slot.

 

Line up the I/O plate perfectly with the slot, and you just need to push it in.

 

The plate will clip in.

 

You'll have to make sure to press in on all ports of it to make sure all of it clips in right.

Thanks for the help, it just took a lot of rearranging, but in the end I didn't have to take the whole motherboard out so yay

Spec alpha, stress test? i'm unfamiliar

A stress test just to make sure the PC is properly cooled and all that.
