Which Gaming laptop should I get/ how durable is the Asus G751?

Hello! I'm buying a new gaming laptop for my birthday next week, and I'm looking for the best one to buy for my dollar

My budget cap is $1500, and I want the strongest specs I can get for my money. I want this to be as close as a desktop equivalent as possible. I've spent a lot of time doing research, and I believe that the strongest computer for my money, when looking at specs alone, is the Asus G751 (GTX 980m model) that goes for about $1480 on Newegg.

The reason why I need a new laptop, however, is because my older, (granted, cheaper) laptop, the Asus X550ZA, broke on me, and the warranty doesn't cover the damages. So, I guess my real question should be "How durable is the Asus G751?". I really want the 980m version, but if I get the 970m version, I can afford a 3 year damage warranty that covers everything. Do you think that this laptop will break in 3 years? I could probably afford an additional repair fee sometime down the road, and I'd have the basic warranty for 1 year through Asus.

Also, I'm open to other suggestions if there are any other laptops with the 980m under $1500, and would be happy to take a look at them!

I have the G751, and it is pretty beefy in terms of build quality. It's fine if your not going to hulk smash drop it into the ground everyday. However, it is a little older with a haswell CPU, but it's pretty powerful anyways.

Thank you all for your input! Now that I've put some more thought, I might not need a 970m or 980m, as I'm already moving up from a laptop with Radeon R6 Graphics and an AMD A10 processor. Thank you all for your advice!

Do you need 970m? Dell 7559 has a 960m 4gig gddr5, consider that

That card is literally half as fast. Please. You should never recommend this if someone has budget for a 970M or 980M.

I have finally moved to a desktop. Also my guides are outdated as hell.

But he was moving from a radeon card, a 970 or 980 might have been an overkill. He would definitely like to save some bucks, i suppose.

That doesn't really matter. He shouldn't downsell if he doesn't have to. If you'd made an arguement about a fully decked-out 965M laptop over a barebones 970M laptop it'd make sense. But you underballed with a decidedly entry-level midranged laptop with a far worse GPU because "he's accustomed to weak stuff". It doesn't make any sense.

That doesn't really matter. Going from a mid-range 970M laptop to a low-end 960M laptop is dumb
