Is this SSD fast enough?

Hi guys!

 

I found this 64gb SSD.

 

read speed=520 mb/s

write speed=155 mb/s

 

is this fast enough? it is the Sandisk Ultra Plus SDSSDHP-G25.

That will be plenty fast for MOST use cases although are you sure you can get away with only 64GB?

64GB is enough i'll put my OS on there and some small programs that i want to be very fast the other stuff is going on my 1TB HDD :)

Read Speed = OK

Write Speed = Slower or just equal than modern HDDs

Coming from HDDs to SSDs the biggest speedup you will notice is from random read IOPS, not sequentials. Basically all modern SSDs are going to feel faster significantly faster than HDDs.

 

A very fast HD might be capable of 120-150 4k read IOPS, where as a slow SSD will still manage 5-10k 4k read IOPS. The fastest SSDs hit over 100k read IOPS.

 

Write IOPS are a similarly higher than HDDs.
