Only 25% load? I think Xeons throttle down at 70c might want to invest in something like a 212 Evo some time in the future but you are fine for now.

I bought a noctua but the pins/connectors do not fit the motherboard.

I could not send it back either, and re-pin is out of the question with the design they have.

is the noctua a 4 pin fan and the board is a 3 pin? if you you can plug it in and leave the one pin exposed and unused. but id say buy a hyper 212 evo since it is compadible with virtually any socket out there. your board is an LGA 2011 socket so the evo will work fine

also 66c on just basically idle is absolute garbage, my quad core xeon cpu idles at 50c when overclocked to 4.0GHz plus my chip is far older and naturally runs hot already, i think your chip is thermal throttling so thats why you are getting garbage performance in games

Nope, 4cables to 5 female.

There are no adapters anywhere for this so its stuck as it is.

It cant be helped since I can only use dell fans, which are as you said garbage.

what? i think you bought a server fan... well is the heatsink itself LGA 2011 compadible? if it is you might be able to swap out the fan on the noctua for another one.

Noctua NH-D9DX i4 3U

the pin is not compatible.

And no, because otherwise it will not fit my case which is stuck with the motherboard which in turn is stuck with the cpu and other components.

Also I tried to re-pin the extra cable, so the warranty is busted as well.

it uses a standard 92mm fan though, so you can buy a cheap 3pin or 4pin fan and replace it. id sugesst something simple and will do the job if you dont want it to be loud you get the ones with manual fan control onboard like the antec tricool 92mm. put it on medium RPM and its silent and also does a great job at cooling.

i did some further research and to me it seems that your motherboard has a proprietary fan connector so your best bet is to use a molex to 3pin adapter and run the fan directly off the power supply. or just find a standard X79 motherboard and transplant the RAM, CPU, HDDs, GPUs ect to a new build

I think all this is too much trouble for someone who cannot mount their PC.

then you might be better off selling the current pc and using the money to buy parts to build your own pc

I need 800$ to be able to build a new one by keeping the good parts as well.

then sell it without the graphics card or put the old quadro back in it. you may be able to make $350 to $400 off it. $300 is the lowest id go on it. thats half of what you need then you save up and make a build. and lesson learn never to buy dell proprietary pcs when you are the type that upgrades parts alot.
