Surface 2 BIOS/UEFI not showing

Go to solution Solved by GoodBytes,

Surface Pro 2 comes with Windows 8.1 Pro.

Windows RT is only on the Surface 1 an 2, not on the Pro version.

If you mean that you'll have Surface 2 (non-Pro), than you can't switch from Windows RT to normal Windows. Normal Windows does not support ARM based CPUs.

Back in the day, maybe still true today, I don't know for sure, but UEFI is picky.

UEFI likes only FAT32 formatted drive, and in the case of the Surface Pro 2, the magic drive size that it is happy with is 8GB, like many other systems. Why it is picky like this, I don't know. When I had to recover my Surface Pro 2, or other UEFI based laptops, I had to take my external HDD, make a 8Gb partition, and extract the ISO in there, and make it bootable.

The easiest thing you can do, is just upgrade from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10.

Hi first this is my first time ever posting something in a forum... so yeah... and Im not a native english speaker...

al righty then... I have a Surface Pro 2 that just arrived in the mail so my plans where to switch out the Windows 8.1 RT to normal Windows 8.1 or Windows 10... I have the Original Win 10 ISO downloaded from the Microsoft page and have the bootable usb drive wich I tested on other UEFI pcs but the problem here is that I have tried all the methods on how to enter the BIOS/UEFI on the surface 2 and nothing works... I did the Up volume thingy but didn't work and the option to restart into UEFI in system recovery is not showing up... thanks in advanced...
