Upgrading Laptop

My laptop has been running sluggishly for over a year now. I don't use it much, but my mom does a lot. She is always frustrated because of the speeds of it. The model is HP ENVY m6-1205dx. It has 6GB of DDR3 and a A10-4600M processor. It also has a 750GB 5400RPM HDD. I was just wondering what upgrade would be the best to do. We are traveling to Lake Michigan in a couple of weeks and I love to shoot GoPro film down there. As a result, I need to edit. Keep this in mind if you need to. I see SSDs of the 240GB variety for $70-80 and 4GB of RAM for $20. Thanks community!

A quick fix would be to run disk cleanup, which is a program build into windows. You could also get a program called pc decrapifier. The program shows you what preinstalled apps are slowing down your pc, and you can uninstall them from there. You could also get some good anti-malware software if you don't already. A good piece of anti-malware software is Malwarebytes. There is a free version, but the paid version is only $30, and it lasts forever with real time protection, and the hyperscan option.

Get a ssd and 16gb of ram.

A nice fix would be to get an ssd, and maybe more ram (but ssd will make the biggest difference)

SSD hands-down.  You might not even need the RAM after you get the SSD.
