Hey guys,

so i built a crazy gaming rig and it had a Liquid cooling part which leaked onto my GTX 970 and i cleaned it as well as i could.(I COMPLETELY TOOK OUT THE AIO COOLER and never put it back in again) checked if it leaked anywhere else, and it seemed to be ok.. Few days later, chucked the graphics card in, seemed to run ok. Then a a month or two go by when i went overseas, came back, and it seems to be lagging really really badly, cpu runs at 100c at idle and its a i7 6700k and its just acting up on me really bad.. Is there a program where i can run a full diagnostics test? Or what would be the steps i should take to see what parts are fried. Im planning on taking it to a repair shop also just incase.

thanks guys

lol your have to wait for a long time for the 9700k to be released... anyways jokes aside, it sounds like your liquid cooler is dead now, replace the CPU cooler and all will be fixed.

Agreed with him. I mean you should have replaced that cooler the first time it leaked. and yeah are you from 2037 or something? lol

no cooler???? your going to break the cpu that way... just go and buy a cheapo cooler to use temporary and run it at stock speeds the cryorig m9i is only $19.99 on newegg with free shipping

the only time i ran without a cooler was with a pentium D cpu and i put bacon on the IHS along with a sausage to cook it

most likely nothing is broken if they systems POSTs (power on self test) just replace the cooler with either a stock intel heatsink or a cheapo aftermarket air cooler, this is why i never use watercooling as so much can go wrong and its a pain in the ass for more than just a 10c differance in temps

I probably got an Idea, is it lagging straight away from the first time you land on the desktop? or is it lagging in a program?

Ok ill try to get a cooler on it. so u think its just the cpu lagging? not the gpu or anything?

the reason why you are laggin is called thermal throtting, the CPU is slowing itself down to save itself from hitting over 300c and breaking everything

ahhh so its not necesarilly the gpu? Why is it running so hot? Is that normal for a i7 6700k to run at 100c at idleeee?

Probably your CPU is the problem, because the mineral in the water could create some kind of gunk between the Pins on the CPU and the motherboard. Or your CPU is fried. Or it probably just need some software update lol. Because this also happened to my friend, except the water part.

no since the cooler is busted thats why its running that hot. imagne if your in your car and you crash and break the radiator, then you see the engine overheats and everything is up in smokes, same concept here. since the car needs to have a radiator to cool the engine down and prevent overheat from use

Yes, if you OCing it without a cooler. especially no water cooler

and thats the reason why you are hitting 100c at idle no cooling method at all. i strongly suggest you get a cooler or this might happen

even though this is with old school cpus back in 2001 it still applies to modern CPUs today

I never see any cpu melted nowadays lol, but yeah that is some extreme example of no cooler on the CPU.
