3-6 input component switcher

Right, so when we move I'm going to be looking at some component cables for all my consoles to get the best possible quality I can up on a 42" LCD TV. Only issue is that it seems like the component switchers are either rack mount BS or they charge you both your kidneys, your left testicle, and 1/2 of each lung. So far, this seems to be the best option I can find. If any of you guys are somehow able to dig something up which will be cheaper in like a year (when we'll be moving house), that would be totally radical.

a lot of these, combined in groups of 6 poles (signal and ground for video and L/R audio)

 

the middle contact goes to the "uplink" towards the tv, one side goes to a console, the other side is to daisychain the next console.

 

some soldering, make a nice box for it, and boom, a unique and totally radical product :P

But the brushed aluminum design.. the LED screen.. more importantly a VU meter...

so.. if you want to switch between inputs, 60 triacs, a selector switch, and a bunch of passives to make stuff work is probably around ~30USD :P

 

EDIT: you can also get 60 reed swiches and a magnet if you want to do the fancy thing :P
