So i know of the new enthuiest line of skylake processers called broadwell-E i believe. Why don't they call the new skylake line Skylake-E? or has it always been called broadwell-E? The 5960x makes sense since it is 5th generation of CPUs but skylake is 6th gen.

The -E CPUs have traditionally been a generation behind mainstream CPUs as they're based off the server CPUs, which also lag behind. Also be careful, the 59xx CPUs are Haswell, so comparable to mainstream 4xxx CPUs. They number them up presumably to make them not sound so old.

We can presume that the next enthusiast lineup will be Skylake-E and use the numbering of 7xxx as per tradition.
