So I have a MSI 970 Gaming motherboard that I do lots of heavy overclocking. I have 2 pins on my motherboard near the CMOS battery that you can short out to reset the CMOS. Is it

1. Possible to attach a case switch (I have a few laying around) to it (it fits the pins perfectly) to have it reset it

2.  A bad idea to even put a switch on the case

The whole point of this is because it is a little hard to pull the battery or push the pin with my case on.

I would say it is certainly a risk not quite work taking to have a CMOS switch on the outside of your case, as it may even cause some sort of damage while the system has power. However, if you were to put a switch on the pins themselves inside the case, it should be fine. As for attaching a normal switch, you'll just have to try it to find out.

Its like a power on/off switch with the proper headers. Like take any case you can find take the power switch and its that

I understand that, but I'm not sure if the clearance will match. Again, you'll have to try it, but I would still not recommend putting it somewhere that it can be accidentally pressed.

It probably hot glue it to one of the pannels on my case or something. But you don't think it will cause any issues unless it is pressed while powered on?

Correct, I recall reading a warning that shorting the pins while the system has power may cause damage recently. Other than that, it should be fine as long as the switch is working properly.

Why? Just because if it it pressed while the system is on?

if you do it i would just use one of those heavy toggle switches so it doesnt accidentally get pressed
