Hey guys, looking at upgrading most of my system this summer, but completing it step by step, anyways have been doing some research and think that I have found the best components for my budget and use of computer (gaming, schoolwork, photo and video editing). I came to seek the Internets help as I am fairly new to the PC community, and hoping to learn more about it.

My current PC: http://pcpartpicker.com/list/cT4kyc

Upgrades: http://pcpartpicker.com/list/6y4XHN

There is a graphics card listed in the upgrades as well as the other stuff I mentioned before, and that is the one I plan on getting, unless some of you guys think the 1060 would be better, but looking for something in that pricerange, and thought the 8GB model would be good for the future as well as DX 12.

Any feedback is greatly appreciated, Thanks.

We will not know if the 1060 will be better until we get some benchmarks but there are rumors it is gtx 980 performance. And do you have a set budget for your upgrade?

I Want to spend around 250-300 on CPU,RAM and Mobo, and then whatever the 1060/480 will cost me when I make that decision. But in reality I want to spend as little as possible.

Thank you, was browsing CPU choices again and noticed the i5 6600 is only 15ish dollars more, would that be an upgrade that is worthwhile, or is the 6500 a solid option?

Nope. It only has a 10% higher clock speed. In real world, you would be hard pressed to spot any difference.

In your opinion is the i5 6500 the best processor around for that pricerange? Or do you think there is one with better performance?

Yes, but there is also the Xeon e3-1231v3. It is similar to the i5 but it has hyperthreading and costs 45 bucks more. Unless you really need the extra threads for video rendering and other multithreaded applications, stick to the i5. It's skylake and has about the same gaming performance as the Xeon. The Xeon only pulls ahead in heavy multi threaded workloads like rendering only barely noticeably.

For an extra $45 I don't think the Xeon has enough added performance for me personally, but your right it does look very nice.
