You can overclock your memory aswell, 9xx series OC's extremly good on memory also, seen some 970 cards that went +500 on memory.

Just keep an eye out for artifacts when stressing the card, but I'd suppose +250 on an 980 is easily do able.

i get artifact at 300mhz on the core clock.

GTX 980. Temps is 82 while running heaven, Memory is 4000mhz   and core clock is 1400mhz

82 seems a bit high but should be alright,i know that you're running a 980 from evga but which one?

So it's a reference 980, then. You can get much more juice than 1300 Mhz from it.

You can get 1450Mhz easily. Try it out.

I run 1514 on water, but I think if I was hitting 82 I would be making some fan curve adjustments or toning down the oc

On Valley, you should be using the Extreme HD preset.
