Is the power supply compatible?

I am building a computer but I just need to pick out power supply. I was wondering if anybody knew or could find out if the Corsair HX750i was compatible with the Intel Core i7-5820k 3.3GHz 6-Core Processor. The only reason I am asking this question is because on the PSU specs list, it says that it is fully compatible with 4th generation processors, and the one that I picked out is 6th generation (The website also includes that it is forwards and backwards compatible, but I don't really know what that means. If you could tell me that would be great!). The website link is: http://goo.gl/Dx2tDN

If you would like to see the parts list I have picked out, and if you have any recommendations to make it better (by having better parts and making cheaper), the link is: http://pcpartpicker.com/list/HR6yXH

Please reply to this topic because I really need help. Thanks!!!

Thanks, and do you happen to know how to explain to me what forwards and backwards compatibility is?

No worries - it's perfectly compatible! To answer your second question, every CPU architecture consumes power uniquely - their voltages, current, etc. When a PSU is said to be compatible with a CPU architecture (in this case 4th gen Intel CPUs code-named Haswell), it means that the power supply is designed with that particular processor architecture in mind. It's guaranteed to work without an CPU architecture-based troubles, but that doesn't mean its always wreaking havoc in the computer if you run a CPU of a different-than-specified architecture. If you've reached the end without getting bored, GOOD NEWS! The HX750i will work fine with the 5820K...

Nothing to see here ;)

The "generation" nomenclature is a bit confusing. The "fourth generation" is the Haswell architecture, which includes your Haswell-E based i7-5820K despite it being released some time after the rest of the Haswell CPUs.

That said, PSUs do not have to specifically list compatibility with individual processor generations. Some might and do not get updated very often, but it's not specifically something the end user has to worry about.
