I have an asus maximus viii extreme mobo and 2 ssds and 2 hdds. I have set raid up as shown in this video:

But I do not believe it worked right. I want it to mirror my ssds in raid 1 and not touch my hdds as I want to use them both for storage.

Any help is welcome and needed.

first disconect the HDDs and RAID the SSDs then do the same for the HDDs it should work

if not spend some time playing around with the on broud RAID and get to know it and watch reviews for your mouther bourd make sure that they talk about how the RAID works it different for each bourd

How do I reset raid?
And how do I select drives in the asus raid manager? I tried to click them but they were only being shown and not selectable.

Okay, I set my mobo to use ahci instead of raid and I'm pretty sure that disabled raid. Now I have raid enabled again and did it when I only had my ssds plugged in and they show the same amount of data on each so I'm petty sure that worked. Except in "My computer" it doesn't show my hdds even though they are plugged in... how do I fix this? (Asus shows them as connected and properly named when I boot my computer)

can you see them in disk manger?

if not then the mother board is not letting the os see the drives

as i said your mother board is not letting your os see the drives try installing the RAID drives that might let the os see them

in disk manger right click the drive and format it

Okay, I did that, but I can only see 1 hdd. It looks like this:
Disk 0 - 450mb, 99mb, D: 223gb, and 1.639gb unallocated

That is strange because my ssd in D: is 225gb and yet it has almost 2tb in size on it, the size of my missing hdd.

Disk 1 - 450mb, 99mb, C: 223gb

My second ssd, 225gb in size

Disk 2 - F: 1862gb

I don't understand why one of my hdds is attached to an ssd yet my os still has a copy on my second ssd. Is it a leftover from my previous raid 1 setup that made me think it was working with my ssd but really it switched to my hdd? If so how do I fix it.

redo the RAIDs it looks like the system is confused which drive is which

How do  I unraid them with intel rapid storage technology? I just installed that to double check and it shows both my hdds as well as both my ssds with only my ssds being raided despite having different filesizes used on dive.

That's the thing that screwed everything up in the first place, why would I do that again? It must not have removed raid from my hdd or something and just raided my ssds again.

Could it have something to do with me using out of sequence ports to plug in my drives? I'm using the ones below each other but they are numbered vertically. So port 0 - ssd, port 1 - hdd, port 2 - ssd, port 3 - hdd. I think that when only two drives are plugged in it must number them 0 and 1, but then when 2 get plugged in it must number them 0, 1, 2, and 3 in order which changes my raid setup to a ssd and a hdd.

the reason you do it again is to see if the mother board is causing the problem your onboard RAID might be causing the problem

try a RAID card, if it is doing the same thing the mother board is not letting windows see the drives at a bit level, if that's the case that i can't fix you will have to get a RAID card that lets windows see the drives on a bit level
