sure you can run 2560x1440 off that thing, even my GT640 does that.

its just a matter of how fast things (like games) will run at that resolution, and which settings you'll have to turn down to have it be a pleasant experience.

Your gpu will be able to render that resolution, especially if you use the display port connection, however you wont be getting stellar fps in more demanding games if thats what you are asking.

actually, my GT640 managed to push 60fps still quite easily at 1440p with games like league of legends.

you have to be a bit clever with settings, but i was actually amazed at how that little brick fared on league of legends, with everything but AA maxed out. (should add i did this testing right around the time a guy from class got a 1000 watt computer for the same function)

i want to play games on ultra settings, so how may i know if my gpu wold be able to run the game on ultra on 2k resolutions?

even at 1080p a GTX680 wont push much at ultra anymore. guessing you have a 1080p display right now, the worst case scenario (games that scale linearly between res and gpu usage) you multiply your current framreates by 0.75 to get a crude idea.

What games do you play?

My 780ti is nearly 2x the perf of your card and it struggles to get a constant 60fps with high settings @ 1440p, although I do generally play fairly demanding games like GTA 5 and NFS 2015...

Depends on what games. Older games The gtx 680 will most probably run them at 1440p at near 60 fps. However newer games such as the witcher or gta v you'll have to turn down the settings to get playable framerates at 1440p. It's still a capable card don't get me wrong.

i mostly play games like wow, DOTA2, skyrim, ESO, start to play witcher.

from some crusty memories:

- wow should be mostly fine, especially if you tweak some settings

- dota 2 should be a breeze

- skyrim will be fine, dont do graphical mods tho, that'll be a landslide

- never did ESO

- never did witcher

i tried playing GTA 5 with a GTX 660 and got 1080p high settings 50fps so im sure it can run 1440p very high/ultra but with skyrim and witcher you would need to turn it down to 1080p and high settings since a 680 is the same as a 960

a 780 Ti is a GTX 970 at the moment and a 680 is a 960 i HIGHLY doubt its 2x the performance,its like we are comparing a 970 to a 960

this is the newest comparison i could find most of all of them are 1 year old

Yea I looked up some firestrike scores and my card is around 25% slower than 680's in sli so they arent that close (14k vs 18k)...

Either way my original point of the 680 not being ideal for 1440p still stands...

chances are there's one or two settings that really tank down the card's performance. its worth messing with the settings for 10 minutes to figure out the ones to turn down.

a GTX 680 could be a 970 or something between a 960 and 970 and 780 Ti could be a 980 or between a 970 and 980 only if Nvidia worked on Keplar and brang Keplar to its full potential...

I also think it depends on the game, because some games my card does quite well in comparison to a 970, however other games (cough, cough, witcher 3 cough) just destroy the card, yet Maxwell dosent break a sweat...

Yea barely any modern games have good Keplar support there are some but it does not Keplar's full potential...
