Cannot Decide between IPS 1440p Monitors

Go to solution Solved by OvAeons,

if you are spending that much you might as well get g sync. i have a pg278q, the TN version and love it (that annoying ass red LED can be turned off). Future gpus will only make 1440p better too. Plus there is no clear answer if nvidia will evolve past gsync... and i was in the same boat with vsync and i was using it and playing next to a friend on Diablo 2 median XL, all i can say is ALL drops showed for them long before they did for me :P

After seeing my friends 144hz tn monitor ive decided its time for me to buy one as well because it was my plan to buy one since i bought my 980ti. Viewing angles for me are a must so ive decided to get another IPS monitor. I also preferred 1440p over 1080p so it will be between a PG279q , or an MG279q . I am not interested in the XF270HU. I have been playing with V-sync on my Current monitor so i dont know if spending the extra 200$ will be worth it or not. "it" being G-Sync and the extra 21hz Aside from the money  the downside to the PG279q would be  that red LED Light. I can afford Either however i just wanted to know if going from V-sync  to no type of refresh rate technology is a bad idea which then makes it best to buy the  pg279q. I just dont want to pay more if i dont have to.

I would recommend G-Sync since the 980 Ti does pretty well in 1440 and will play smoothly no matter what the frame rate is.

thank you both i was under the impression that g-sync was for lower frame rate gameplay and figured a 980ti would not fit into that category as of right now.

It helps the 980 Ti tremendously. Whenever I use the server for gaming G-sync lets the screen refresh when the fame is rendered rather than chopping in two frames between cycles.

Hope you have fun experiencing 60fps with no perception of it and 120fps when everything is silky smooooth. Haven't gamed with such smoothness since CRT's were a thing.
