Should i upgrade my CPU

It is not worth upgrading from a 4790k to 6700k, what is your current computer and what is your budget?

Keep, if ya upgrade to skylake parts than you need a skylake MOBO to support the CPU and you'll also need new DDR4 RAM aswell (for the majority of MOBO's)

mobo is a Maximus VII Impact running ribjaw 1333 ram, nvidia gtx 780 and the intel 4790k

oh and my budget is about $5000, i was just wondering if it was worth spending the money for the 6700k from the 4790k

6950k is what you need on that budget

I'd invest into the GPU and get some high-end monitors on that sort of budget.

Just stick with 4790k system for now.

You can upgrade GPU if you want, that 4790k can handle any single GPU without bottlenecking.

im looking at a gtx 1080 atm and i need a new monitor, will the 4790k keep up with all the lastest games comming out

I tried a 3 monitor setup and dont like it, its a very individual experience and thus my opinion matters little.

Well for that budget sure.

You could even go for i7 6850k, to get 40 lanes and 2 more cores than i7 6700k.

ive been saving for 2 years, i do this all the time i save money for 2 years then upgrade
