It's your bios loading up your settings, same happens with me.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure that's the reason.

It's also possibly due to the SSD. I have the same SSD (840 non pro) and no overclock, it takes about 10-15 seconds.

Depending on how full it is would impact the boot time I think. Someone can also correct me if I'm wrong about this.

A full boot takes me about 10 seconds with the default bios settings, it's about 30sec - 1 minute with the overclock.

I have the same issues. Make sure that your boot priorities boot to your main boot drive first. What I have, is it set up so the BIOS has to check if there is a bootable USB and other things before it gets to the system boot drive.

i wouldn't bother if i where you,  my pc does take a little while to fully boot up (when al my start up programs are loaded) once that is done, it runs like a beauty. and that's all that matters.

keep in mind, you probarly installed hundreds of windows updates, this slows things down a lot to.
(since it's slower when it's oc'ed ,maybe it's your bios loading up the oc settings?

Mine only does that when i change something in my BIOS, add or remove a device between shut downs, or turn the power switch off on the psu. Normally the ROG slash screen is only there for a few seconds.

honestly I think its more of an ROG thing than the SSD.  I had a Vector ssd with an 1155 celeron cpu on an ASRock B75 board, then I switched to an ROG forumla and a 4770k (mobo and cpu are the only things that changed) and my boot time got significantly slower...

I would check the bios to see if there is a quick boot option to skip some checks.

Have you tried using the fast-boot options?

My board will do that if I have it disabled but will boot in about 10 sec with it turned on.

  • 2 years later...

I have the same issue but i think it has to do with USB initialization somehow

I can see that when i press the power button the display shows the ROG sign and but the keyboard is unresponsive...i know this since the keyboard lights are out....After 10-15 secs the keyboards lights come and the systems counts the 2 secs delay that i have set the bios to wait for input. Then it flies to Windows 10.

I still have not found the solution to this problem except when i change the fast boot option from slow to fast and reverse. The system then immediately lights up my USB keyboard, waits 2 secs for input and then goes directly to Windows but only for the first time....argh....

I will try some stuff today to see if i can resolve this.
