I thought the Whealtley reference was fairly obvious ;)

I would use it for folding or for maybe a home network storage computer.

Don't really see any point in either of those to be quite honest, as Samdb said, it wouldn't do too great on the folding side and I don't really need the storage as everything goes directly to my HDD and I never really have anything to store, bar some games.

turn it into a router.

THIS ^^^.

get a couple of cheap pci gigabit ethernet cards and turn into a PfSense router :D.

I've done it with a pentium 4, 768mb ram and its a beast of a router, soon to be used in my new network setup

yup, put your own anti virus on there, set it to automatically download and cache windows updates... so nice.
