Any use for this old ish desktop?

Right so as of today I was given an old prebuilt desktop from my sisters boyfriend, didn't seem too bad apart from the fact it was running Vista Home Premium, would I be able to put it to any use?, I was tempted to buy a 6450 for around £25 and throw that in whilst giving it or selling it to a friend of mine.

Specs: 

Intel Celeron D @ 3.0Ghz (Single core)

512Mb DDR2. 

Weird blue foxconn MB with PCI-E slot. 

80GB HDD.

Old shitty case.

 

Edit: I've also reinstalled the OS replacing it with Windows XP Pro. + I had the old driver disk given to me aswell.

Turn it in to an old windows 95 machine and play Duke Nukem, Doom, and other glorious things of olden days. Or... oc the crap out of it and see what it can do, like cook an egg.

Surprisingly no, it was actually usable bar the slowness.

Use it as a NAS (get a bigger HDD) or use pfSense to turn your PC into a router.

Maybe you could use it as a file server, or put some more RAM in there and use it as a light game server over LAN for a few people.

if your internet isn't that slow you can host a game server on it, put a tv turner in it and use it as a dvr, use it as a dedicated mame box or put it out back or in the garage so you can use it when working on things

Hmmm I'm sure i have done other things with them in the past but those are the ones i remember doing off the top of my head with old computers

Pfsense box? If you need to replace a router this would be a nice solution, toss a few nics inside.
