Win XP Home 32-Bit

So I have this old pc that had a dead, unsalvageable, hard drive. I have the product key and everything but none of the discs. If anyone has a link to the mentioned above version download that would be great. Thanks in advanced.

Microsoft took it down. I burned all the OS's onto disks before it was too late, so I have it on disk, but not everyone was as fortunate. I'm sure you could find it on some ghetto website, but be careful what you download.

You can probably find a disk for it on ebay or find one from a friend.

I figured that but I don't want to risk it. I don't want my pc to get viruses or get an iso that has viruses pre installed on it.

If it is an OEM version of XP, you can't transfer it anyway. Why do even wan't xp?

I was trying to avoid the money route and none of my friends don't have any oses. With my luck I have win 95-2000 on discs and Vista-10 but for some reason I never made one of XP.

That's the most modern os that the system I'm working on can run.

The only way to get a copy of win xp would be to get it from an untrustworthy website. But, if the machine was running xp, it is also pretty much worthless.

I get that but the system was a fun project so if I cant get it, I cant get it that simple.

Well obviously I was avoiding it. All my other current projects are Linux so I was trying to avoid it.

I do but like I said I would rather not use Linux on this project because my other ones are.

I would but I need to wait until I can get the motherboard I need. I have everything else but the motherboard.

So it seems the discussion is no longer relevant to the thread topic. I suggest you create a thread about motherboards, maybe someone has an idea on a cheap MOBO that does what you need?

Actually you can transfer it. It doesn't have same kind of hardware lock like what newer versions do. But it remains against Microsoft's ToS so we can't give any details to help.
