I currently have a Studio XPS 8300 system and have been considering getting a case to replace it for better air flow after researching upgrading my gtx 650..  I looked up my MB specs which is as follows.  Dell Inc with a serial number CN7360419L00E4 / 0y2mrg and was wondering how to best research cases that is compatible with the board or should I consider shopping for a new MB with the case in case the MB is unique to the case.

I believe that's a standard ATX motherboard. Dell does make some proprietary ones, but you can tell those pretty quickly by looking at the back of the case. If there's a removeable plate surrounding the USB ports, audio ports, etc., it's a removeable motherboard. If the cutouts are part of the case, assume it's proprietary. Take a look at pictures of ATX motherboards and compare placement of RAM slots, PCIe slots, etc. to what you see inside the Dell and, finally, it never hurts to check the motherboard screws.

TL;DR, the board is probably standard ATX, just measure it to be sure it'll fit the new case.

I enjoy buying junk and sinking more money than it's worth into it to make it less junk.
