I want to check out some DJ'ing and was wondering what would be the best software to learn with?

Also, what is needed? In terms of equipment.

Thanks :)

VirtualDJ is beautiful :P I've created a fair amount of mixes with it

Console optimisations and how they will effect you | The difference between AMD cores and Intel cores | Memory Bus size and how it effects your VRAM usage |
How much vram do you actually need? | APUs and the future of processing | Projects: SO - here

Intel i7 5820l @ with Corsair H110 | 32GB DDR4 RAM @ 1600Mhz | XFX Radeon R9 290 @ 1.2Ghz | Corsair 600Q | Corsair TX650 | Probably too much corsair but meh should have had a Corsair SSD and RAM | 1.3TB HDD Space | Sennheiser HD598 | Beyerdynamic Custom One Pro | Blue Snowball

What about hardware?

http://compare.ebay.ca/like/310708263902?var=lv&ltyp=AllFixedPriceItemTypes&var=sbar&_lwgsi=y&cbt=y&lpid=33&item_id=310708263902 They're generally a fair bit more pricey than that. If you're serious about DJing as a profession, get something inexpensive and use it until you can afford some of the higher end ones, then upgrade. If you're only doing it as a hobby, skip the hardware or just buy the cheaper option.

No and no. The biggest mistake I see with people who want to get into the hobby is buying cheap gear. What do you actually want to spin? CD's, vinyl or digital? If you're looking at digital then Traktor would be a good starting point alongside an S2 or S4 from Native Instruments. If you're looking at vinyl then that's a bit more expensive to get into as you're constantly replacing things.

Probably digital.

Then yeah, probably Traktor would be a good place to start. Then eventually getting a controller like the S2 or otherwise I know Pioneer I think it is came out with a good one recently though that might be a different software from memory.
