Amazon USB Question

Hi all, 

 

A buddy of mine has a non-smart TV and is thinking of getting the Amazon Fire USB TV Stick.  Will this convert his tv to the equivalent of a smart TV? his current TV has USB ports with media support.

Its a HDMI, not usb stick, it will let you steam media if tahts waht you want.

Thanks, I think he wants to know if he can browse the Amazon menus through his TV, I assume the whole Amazon experience will be WIFI streamed to the HDMI device from this home WIFI right?
