So I've broke my hard drive, graphics card, 2x SATA cables trying to fix the ongoing issues with my PC. This has been happening since I upgraded my CPU from and i3 4130 to and i5 4690. My PC is now shutting down practically instantly upon getting to my desktop. Temps on the BIOS in the pictures below. I'm using the new stock fan which was provided with my new i5

I have 3 fans in my PC spinning, front, back and CPU. I removed the old thermal compound and applied new. Not sure what else I can do.

You're going to need a new cpu cooler. Stock Coolers are awful.

Surely 91 Degrees is stupidly high. Is there a way I could have applied Thermal Compound incorrectly? Although I'm 99% sure I haven't.

I'm sure it's more to do with a mounting issue than a TIM issue.  As long as you put enough on there, even too much, you'd be fine.

You're cooler must not be making strong contact with the IHS on your 4690.  Did you switch coolers when you upgraded CPUs?

Holy shit.

If that's it's temp in bios, then you've got a larger problem than just the shit stock cooler.

Make sure that cooler is making good contact with the CPU. You wouldn't even have temps this high if you just SET the cooler on the CPU without locking it down.

If it's making good contact, you applied the paste correctly, and it's still overheating...

Then it's an issue with the chip itself.

I'd check the power supply. Going from an i3 to an i5 means more power required from the PSU and maybe it can't handle it.

Also, of course, did you plug in the CPU ATX power connector?

Or - reset the BIOS to make sure the CPU is being properly detected and running within specs. Isn't an i5-4690 supposed to run at 3.5Ghz, not 2.5?

A sieve may not hold water, but it will hold another sieve.

Neither of those would cause this issue.  If the CPU power wasn't connected, it wouldn't even post.

If the power supply is flaky, it may be over-volting the CPU. Some motherboards will try to work without the ATX power connected. (Although, granted, that wouldn't make the CPU run hot. :) )

He's at 91c while idling at .864v in BIOS.  I'm pretty sure it's a mounting issue, but who knows.  :)

make sure the heatsink is properly seated not just making contact with the cpu

Maybe try resetting the BIOS? could have accidentally derped something... even if I have no idea what would make the CPU go that crazy, it's still worth looking into as it's typically fairly simple to do.

Nothing wrong with the BIOS temps, I can feel my room heating up and my GPU is also suddenly 80-90 degrees, all that has been changed is my CPU. This is abnormal!

The mounting issue would be the CPU cooler? although I'm so confident that it's on correctly. All fans in my case are spinning.

" Isn't an i5-4690 supposed to run at 3.5Ghz, not 2.5?" - just noticed this, is this normal or is something wrong? thanks.

Okay, I haven't messed with any of this. What's the issue specifically and how do i change it. Please explain this to me as if I was a 2-year old child :D.

I'm no good with this BIOS and your processor is locked. Better return it and get a new one.

You are confusing voltages.  His CPU voltage is fine.  It's idling at .864v according to the screenshot.

You probably shouldn't jump straight to telling someone to replace their CPU.  Between this and your last post, I'm sure you're causing a bit of panic for the OP.

You're voltage looks fine.  He was confusing your CPU VRIN reading as your core voltage, which it's not.
