A few days ago my power supply (cx 600) broke and with it it broke my asrock 970 extreme3 r2.0. I tested my gpu in another computer and that works but for now I'm left useless. I need to buy a motherboard, but I need to know if I should buy a combo with a cpu because I don't know how to tell if it works. My cpu is an AMD fx 8350

The CPU platform (AM3) is starting to show its age...Maybe time for an upgrade if possible?

Anything is possible but it i would highly doubt that your cpu is damaged. I would just purchase a new am3+ motherboard unless you have the extra funds and are planning on upgrading. Dont buy a combo with another 8350 at this point. Some Newegg combos will save you a few dollars but i haven't ever been super impressed with the combo deals.

You could also potentially purchase a used am3+ motherboard to save some cash for later upgrades.

If you really want to go for Intel, sell your CPU. AM3+ is a 'dead' socket, go for like a i3-6100? (1151) that socket isn't dead, there are plenty of upgrades from there?

I'm not saying you have to, I'm just giving you the better option here. Thank you :D
