Hey all, I hope you can help me with this problem.

Before all of what I'm about to say, I haven't had this problem before.

After reapplying thermal paste on my 4670k, I booted up my PC and noticed that I kept getting a 55 error code, I looked it up and it meant that the memory was not installed when there were 4 sticks of RAM in there and have been in there for months. I fiddled around with the RAM, switching them and whatnot and came to a conclusion that the first 2 RAM slots closest to my CPU are the ones that trigger the 55 error code and the other 2 RAM slots do not. So now I'm forced to have 8GB of RAM to even use my computer and have 2 slots unused. Is this a motherboard problem? CPU problem? RAM problem? It was kind of weird for this problem to happen after taking out my CPU to clean and then putting it back it.

Please let me know your thoughts on this.

Thanks :)

I've had the exact same issue, turned out I had overtightened my block and it had scratched one of the traces on the board damaging it.

Remove your hsf/block and inspect the board around the mounting points for any dents or scratches.
