Hello fellas,

I have a rig running windows 10. I upgraded it from windows 7 and I recently reset it (keep files but non of the programs) and the system asks me to activate my windows. So I went to system settings and try to activate windows by hitting the activate button. A loading animation showed up for a second and then disappear and then nothing happen. I tried several times and I am sure my internet is working. What can be the cause of it? and how can i fix it?

Thanks in advance!

There's an app called "Contact support" in Windows 10, they'll reactivate it for you.

Is this activation by phone? I will try to activate this way then

@Devin92

This happens sometimes, just be patient. It's not deactivated, there's no need to call MS, at all.

You also can try to open an elevated command prompt and type "slmgr.vbs /ato" (without quotes).

So I can just wait for it to activate itself after a while? It has been already 4-5 days since I reset my PC, is this still normal?

What is the benefit to use a KMS?

No it's not "normal" in the general sense, but it's been a problem since Windows 10 came out. Just google it and you'll see thousands of people having this problem.

Just do the command prompt thing, it forces Windows 10 to activate. You can try 2 or 3 times in a row then restart after 10 minutes. It works.
